ARTIST BIO

John Mikel Thomas

A fine art painter and sculptor, Thomas's artworks add elements of perspective, artificial light sources, and simulated cast shadows to achieve the illusion of three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface as defined in Abstract Illusionism.
Implementing his extensive background in art to address surface disfigurement, pigment discoloration, and flaking arising from deterioration or damage, retaining as much original material as possible, he recreates areas damaged or missing elements by hand-painted faux.
Thomas works with various materials, homemade concoctions of dyes, stains, and gels to restore any antique piece to its original richness or cover years of neglect with his hand-applied faux interpretations.
Specializing in high-end restoration and conservation of the legacy of architecture and decoration, preserved with the highest quality of care for generations to enjoy.
An expert in detail, restoring historic spaces to their original splendor, and dedicated to aesthetic radiance, from finishes to faux art, texture to color-matching,
From landmark buildings to personal artifacts, his artist's touch and inexhaustible patience marry new concepts and technologies with traditional craftsmanship to achieve beautiful results.
